Crime Scene Evidence Report
Reflection:
1). I learned so much
throughout this project. Learning how to take fingerprints, preform
chromatography, construct pedigrees, identify blood types, and finding out
about different chromosome disorders was very interesting and enjoyable to do.
Because I'm such a big fan of murder mystery shows, it made it all more fun to
be the one solving the case. I didn't know much about murder charges and how
they were dealt with, so not only did we play the role of a forensic scientist,
but also a lawyer.
2). I would like to learn more about different ways to gather evidence, as well as, how to determine a murder weapon based on the wounds on the victim. Although, I don't have any hopes of being a lawyer in the future, it would be fascinating to learn more about murder charges and their consequences.
3). To better the project for next year, I would definitely suggest doing more evidence work at the crime scene. Maybe have the students look for evidence group by group and see how many groups can collect all the evidence. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this project, and maybe a few more structured labs would help the students fully complete their assumptions of who killed who.
4). I felt I did pretty well in terms of staying on task while working on the project. Because there were so many different components to include in the power point, time management was crucial to be aware of. For the presentation, I believe I spoke well, but could have made more eye contact to the jury. One thing I could have done differently was practice my lines even more to be better prepared for my group. However, I believe it was an overall strong project and presentation.
5). My group was very good at staying on task. We wanted to include all the information we could so it got down to the wire in terms of finishing on time. That was the main reasoning why we didn't have a lot of time to practice our presentation. Everyone spoke clearly and we all kept our intentions of convincing the jury every piece of evidence. The only minor detail our group could have done differently was do more run-throughs with our presentation, otherwise, I thought we did great, and collaborated really well.
